Pundit expects Liverpool to enter Sofyan Amrabat 'bidding war' - 'the fans are going crazy'

Kevin Campbell has claimed Liverpool could bolster their midfield by entering a January “bidding war” for World Cup breakout star Sofyan Amrabat.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Reds fans have been “going crazy” about the midfield decline at the club – with the 26-year-old capable of fixing that problem.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato (7 December), Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has met with Amrabat’s representatives – with Tottenham and Inter Milan also interested in the midfielder’s services.

The Fiorentina star has been one of the breakout stars at the World Cup – helping Morocco make history despite their semi-final defeat against France on Wednesday (14 December).

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (13 December) that the club are laying the groundwork for two new midfield signings and at least one deal could be done in January.

First-team stars Naby Keita, Alex Oxalde-Chamberlain, and James Milner are all out of contract at the end of the season – with a summer move for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham also possible.

Campbell told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “The Liverpool fans have been going crazy about this midfield for a while now.

“They’ve got to get players in who are fresh, who are young – and Amrabat fits that bill.

“He’d be a good signing if Liverpool could get him.

“But I’m expecting a bidding war after what I’ve seen at this World Cup. He’s been one of the outstanding players.

“He protects the defence, he uses the ball well – and his stock is just rising and rising.”
