Alexis Mac Allister signing could spell the end for £25m Tottenham star - 'there's a lot of talk', pundit says

Kevin Campbell has suggested the potential signing of Alexis Mac Allister at Tottenham would “make life very difficult” for fringe star Yves Bissouma.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, hailed the 23-year-old’s “impact” in Argentina’s midfield as they edge closer to World Cup triumph.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes (14 December), Tottenham are in a “four-way battle” to recruit Mac Allister in January – alongside Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and Juventus.

The midfielder has been a standout at the World Cup in Qatar, scoring once in five starts to help Argentina to the final after being benched for the opening loss against Saudi Arabia.

Mac Allister, who joined Brighton in 2019, has started each of the Seagulls’ 14 Premier League games this term – scoring five goals.

Meanwhile, Bissouma has managed just seven starts across all competitions since completing a £25million summer move to Spurs.

Mac Allister is out of contract at the Amex Stadium in June 2025.

Campbell told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “He’s a really good player.

“There was a lot of talk about him before the World Cup anyway, but you can see what an impact he’s had on this Argentina midfield.

“He’s good on the ball, he’s smart, he’s a worker.

“But them signing another midfielder will make life very difficult for Yves Bissouma.

“He’s not getting into this side, and they’ve spent £25million on him. If Mac Allister comes in, then it’ll be interesting to see what happens with Bissouma.”
