Pundit claims possible Tottenham signing could cause 'unrest' - 'Yves Bissouma will be fuming'

Kevin Campbell has claimed the signing of Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie will only cause “problems” in the Tottenham dressing room.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted summer signing Yves Bissouma, 26, will be “fuming” to see a new arrival come in ahead of him in Antonio Conte’s pecking order.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (4 December), Tottenham are interested in McKennie, 24, and could make a move to sign the Juventus midfielder in the January window.

He starred during the World Cup for the United States, starting each of their four games before they were eliminated in the Round of 16 by the Netherlands.

McKennie, who is under contract in Turin until June 2025, has started just 60% of the Italian giants’ Serie A games so far this season.

Tottenham already have Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Bissouma in their midfield ranks – with youngsters Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr also waiting in the wings.

Campbell told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “There’s Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Bissouma – they are already at the club.

“It’s just signing players for the sake of it. These players aren’t stupid, they want to play every game.

“You can accumulate all the players you want, but it’s only going to cause problems in the dressing room.

“If McKennie joins Spurs, he’ll want guarantees that he is going to play. You can imagine how Bissouma will react to that – he’ll be fuming.

“It’ll just cause unrest in that dressing room.”
