Jack Harrison told to reject new offer after Leeds United source's reveal - pundit

Kevin Campbell has urged Jack Harrison to reject advances from Newcastle United and sign a new contract at Leeds United.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 26-year-old is not guaranteed to start if he moves to the mega-rich St James’ Park club.

Sources told this site on Thursday (8 December) that Leeds United are opening new contract talks with Harrison as they try to prevent him leaving on a cut-price deal.

Newcastle United are continuing to monitor his situation going into the January window after seeing a £20million-plus bid rejected during the summer.

Harrison, who is currently under contract until June 2024, started 12 of Leeds United’s 14 Premier League matches this season before the World Cup break.

He was tipped for a maiden England call-up after his impressive early-season displays but the winger’s form has tailed off in recent months.

Campbell told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Being involved in a top-four chase and not playing isn’t good.

“That’s the issue. Newcastle United are going well without him.

“There’s nothing to say he will walk into that team if he joins Newcastle. There’s no guarantee.

“At Leeds he will start. Nothing beats playing football and starting games every week.

“I’m not surprised he is talking to Leeds about a new contract. It’s the right thing to do.

“If a team comes in to make him a starter, then it’s a different discussion. He’s not going to get that at Newcastle.”
