Insider fears Tottenham suffering 'body blow of huge proportions' after Paratici probe update

It would be a “phenomenal blow” if Fabio Paratici had to step down from his role at Tottenham amid an investigation from Italian authorities.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On 30 November, Sky Sports reported Paratici, 49, is among six people under investigation as part of a probe into alleged financial corruption at Juventus.

It was reported Paratici could be called to give evidence to the public prosecutor’s office in early December.

The former Juve chief joined Tottenham in the summer of 2021.

In any case, Wenham insists the ongoing investigation will have no effect on Spurs’ January transfers.

“I don’t think there will be an immediate effect on Tottenham,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s hard to comment right now because things are being investigated.

“All I can say is, if for whatever reason, Paratici is found guilty of something and needs to leave Tottenham it would be a phenomenal blow. That’s worse-case.

“We pulled out all of the stops to sign him, Levy has known him for many, many years.

“He was instrumental to bringing Conte to the club. It would be a body blow of huge proportions if we were to lose him.

“Hopefully everything is fine in the end but I hesitate to comment further while investigations are ongoing.”

Paratici spent 11 years at Juventus before departing for North London.

His official title was Head of Technical Affairs and Sporting Director at the Italian giants.

In other news, Tottenham are preparing for the “biggest window in their history”, with 10-plus deals in the pipeline.
