Man United could seal 'great' Haidara signing as £82m-plus deals line up - pundit

Kevin Campbell has claimed RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara would be “a great signing” for Man United given his experience of working under Ralf Rangnick.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal striker said any additions in the mid-season window need to be “practical”.

According to The Sun (5 December), Haidara, 23, will become Rangnick’s first signing if United agree to pay his £32million release clause.

Manchester United are also said to be interested in John McGinn but Aston Villa reportedly want more than £50million for the Scotland international.

The midfielder search comes as United prepare for the exit of Paul Pogba, who is out of contract next summer.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Haidara moving to Old Trafford, Campbell said:

“Any signing for Manchester United in the January window needs to be practical and sensible.

“Whoever comes in needs to be able to do a specific job in this Ralf Rangnick system. Haidara knows how to play that brand of football. He knows the specific job Rangnick wants.

“It’s an area where Man United are perhaps a little light so I think, yes, he’d be a great signing.”

Rangnick signed Haidara for Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2016 when he was sporting director of the Austrian club and he also took the midfielder with him to RB Leipzig in December 2018.

Haidara has three-and-a-half years remaining on his contract in Germany.

In other news, a pundit has predicted Man United could sign Ballon D’Or winner next year after contract talks held.
