Man United news: Shaw and 29-year-old teammate branded a 'disgrace' by pundit - 'nothing short of shocking'

It will be a “disgrace” if Man United duo Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw play well for England this month.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after both men’s recent performances.

On Thursday (17 March), Maguire, 29, and Shaw, 26, were both called up to the England squad for March’s internationals.

This came following criticism for both players throughout the season.

In February, as quoted by Sky Sports , Ralf Rangnick admitted Maguire has had “weaker moments” in some games.

McAvennie insists it will be a disgrace if the duo impress for England.

“I’m going to have a go at the boy, how has Shaw been called up for England?” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He hasn’t done enough this year. I don’t know what he has done to get that.

“We know how good he can be, he scored in the final of the Euros. But he hasn’t been doing it for Man United.

“Maguire isn’t doing it either. See, if they go and turn it on with England it will be a disgrace.

“You know they will as well. I don’t know how the fans put up with it.

“They have been nothing short of shocking for Man United this season.

Maguire has made 31 appearances for Manchester United this season and has scored two goals.

Shaw has made 26 appearances, registering five assists.
