Alfredo Morelos: Agbonlahor issues prediction on Rangers star quitting after reveal

Rangers will be “prepared” for Alfredo Morelos to quit Ibrox this summer, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Morelos has the quality to test himself in a better league.

The Daily Record reported on Monday (11 March) the 25-year-old has changed representation to Footfeel and Echo Sports who rolled out the red carpet to secure their new client.

The agency boasts a range of clients across Europe and helped broker Achraf Hakimi’s move from Inter Milan to Paris Saint-Germain last summer (2021).

The striker is heading into the final year of his Ibrox contract and Rangers are running out of time if they want to make any money from a sale.

They have already turned down a number of bids from Morelos over the years but he has never hidden his desire to play in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

Asked for his assessment of the Colombian’s future, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think Morelos will know, he’s a very good striker doing very well at Rangers and he will want to test himself in a better league, there’s no doubt about that.

“I’m sure Rangers have prepared themselves for that.

“Maybe this summer, or the summer after that, he will go and look to test himself in a stronger league and he’s got the quality to do that.”

Morelos has scored 113 goals in 223 games across all competitions for the Gers since his arrival from Finnish side HJK Helsinki.

He is the club’s top scorer in European competitions with 28 goals in 56 appearances.

In other news, an Ibrox source has revealed Rangers have set their sights on signing Josh Stones.
