Arsenal news: Campbell can't believe 'incredible' Thomas Partey transformation after this Arteta 'tweak'

Kevin Campbell has hailed the “remarkable” recent form of Thomas Partey after “taking his time” to settle at Arsenal.

The former Gunners striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 28-year-old has been “outstanding” since returning from the African Cup of Nations.

Partey followed up his goal in the win over Leicester on Sunday (13 March) with an impressive performance as Arsenal fell 2-0 against Liverpool on Wednesday (16 March).

The Ghana international won nine ground duels, recorded 100% dribble success, made three tackles and two interceptions during the loss at the Emirates Stadium (as per Sofascore).

Campbell hailed Partey’s “outstanding” transformation after a tough start to life in the Premier League.

“I’ve got a lot of time for Thomas Partey, he’s an incredible midfielder,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“He’s obviously taken his time to settle. There were a lot of injuries in the early days, his performances were up and down – he himself gave himself a 4/10.

“But since he’s come back from the African Cup of Nations, all of a sudden – he’s been nothing short of remarkable.

“They’ve tweaked it at times, pushing Granit Xhaka further forward in that pivot.

“He’s been outstanding recently, and Arsenal’s most important player as far as I’m concerned.

“Everyone’s starting to see his final form. Protecting the two defenders, excellent on the ball, great passes through to Martin Odegaard, scoring goals.

“His all-around game is coming through very nicely.”

Partey joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in a reported £45million deal in 2020.

The midfielder has scored twice in 57 Gunners appearances but has struggled with a number of injuries during his time in north London.
