'This can't go on', 'If Bamford did that...' - Leeds fans destroy star after display in 3-2 win v Middlesbrough

Leeds United fans could not believe their eyes when Georginio Rutter missed a sitter against Middlesbrough in Saturday’s 3-2 win (2 December).

Elland Road bore witness to one of the most exciting first halves of football in the Championship this season with the Whites leading 3-2 at the break.

Daniel Farke’s men made quick work of cancelling out Emmanuel Latte Lath’s third-minute opener with a rapid double blow from Daniel James and Crysencio Summerville which put Leeds ahead just four minutes after going behind.

However, fans were astounded to see Rutter miss a clear-cut opportunity early in the second half when his weak effort was narrowly palmed away when he was one-on-one with Seny Dieng in the Boro net.

While Rutter will have a huge weight off his shoulders after the full-time whistle confirmed victory, supporters have taken to social media to blast the misfiring forward.

This fan was baffled that Rutter opted to shoot from so far out.

This fan was full of praise for Rutter but did not hold back about his finishing ability.

One supporter claimed he was one of the worst finishers Elland Road has ever seen and players in the division below would be “filling their boots” with the chance he missed.

This fan feared that Rutter had been taking tips from Leeds’ misfiring Patrick Bamford.

One fan wouldn’t bet his life on Rutter finishing a chance.

This fan gave Farke a few tips on how his side should line up and suggested Rutter move out wide, otherwise, Leeds’ promotion odds would be slashed.

This Whites fan claimed that Rutter would be facing “dog’s abuse” if he was Bamford.

This fan pointed out that Rutter is not in fact a striker.
