Sources: Divock Origi is telling Liverpool he wants to quit after major development

Divock Origi is telling Liverpool he wants to quit this summer, Football Insider understands.

The striker, 26, has slipped further down the pecking order following the January arrival of Luis Diaz and is tired of being on the Anfield fringes.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Origi has made up his mind to leave at the end of the season.

The Merseysiders are expected to green light the Belgium international’s departure after being willing to listen to offers for him in previous windows.

Origi has a contract that runs to the summer of 2022, but would be automatically extended by 12 months if he makes a set number of league starts this term.

AC Milan have been linked with the forward this week as they look to bolster their striker ranks this summer.

He is now pushing for a move away after seeing his game time diminish since the turn of the year.

Diaz’s arrival has not only seen the Belgian’s minutes drop but he has been left out of matchday squads recently.

Origi also suffered a knee injury back in December that kept him out of action until February.

In total, he has started five times in 14 appearances across all competitions this season.

None of those starts have come in the Premier League, where he has scored twice in five substitute outings.

Liverpool were willing to listen to offers for the hitman during the January but a move never came to fruition.

Origi has played a total of 140 times for Liverpool since joining from Lille back in 2014.

He has also had loan spells with his old side in France and VFL Wolfsburg during his time at Anfield.
