Revealed: Chelsea ready to match Arsenal bid for Moises Caicedo

Chelsea are prepared to match any bid Arsenal make for Moises Caicedo, sources have told Football Insider.

German giants Bayern Munich are also eyeing up a potential swoop for Caicedo as their deal for Declan Rice looks increasingly unlikely.

Both Chelsea and Arsenal have been interested in the 21-year-old and made moves to sign him in January, with the Gunners seeing a bid of around £70million rejected at the end of the window.

Following his failed move to the Emirates, the midfielder put pen to paper on a contract extension with Brighton keeping him at the AMEX until 2027.

The new deal also includes the option of a 12-month extension, if the club wish to exercise it.

On Tuesday (13 June), Football Insider revealed that the Blues have made contact with Brighton over a deal for the Ecuador international.

The Seagulls are holding out for a bid of £70m plus a further £10m in add-ons if they are to let go of one of their star players.

Whilst Arsenal and Chelsea hold the most concrete interest in the midfielder, fellow Premier League giants Liverpool and Man United have also monitored Caicedo but the two London clubs are believed to be leading the race.

The London rivals have also been in a battle to sign West Ham star Declan Rice.

Yesterday (13 June), Football Insider revealed that the Gunners have agreed terms with Rice for a deal worth £100m-plus and are set to launch an official bid.
