Sources: West Ham in late-window signing blizzard as Scamacca completes Atalanta medical

West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca is in Rome undergoing a medical after agreeing a £27.6million move move to Atalanta, sources have told Football Insider.

The transfer is due to be completed on Monday (7 July) as the Irons raise more cash for a late-window signing spree.

West Ham are expected to sign up to five new players after agreeing the club-record sale of Declan Rice earlier in the summer.

Now, they will recoup the majority of what they paid Sassuolo to sign Scamacca last summer.

The 24-year-old joined the Hammers in a deal worth a reported £30m just over a year ago.

On 5 August, Football Insider revealed that the striker agreed a permanent move away from the London Stadium to join Atalanta with the details expected to be finalised today (7 July).

Scamacca had agreed terms with fellow Italian side Roma on a loan-to-buy deal, as revealed by Football Insider last week (30 July), but had not reached an agreement with West Ham over the fee.

Now Serie A rivals Atalanta have won the race for the forward’s signature.

The Irons are the only Premier League side to have not made a signing yet this summer, despite the big money sale of Rice earlier in the window.

As revealed by Football Insider (6 August), David Moyes is working to sign Man United duo Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay and has identified the pair as his top targets.

McTominay and Maguire could cost £30m each and Moyes is facing pushback in his pursuit of the players from director of football Tim Steidten, who is keen for younger players with more room to grow.

In other news, West Ham now only club in running to sign midfielder.
