Sources: Chelsea close to agreeing Mohammed Kudus deal

Chelsea are close to agreeing personal terms with Mohammed Kudus as they put the finishing touches to what will be a marquee signing, sources have told Football Insider.

The fee for the 22-year-old is believed to have been settled at £40million and Kudus is keen to join the Blues this summer.

Kudus has entered the final two years of his contract at Ajax and is open to leaving the club straight away.

The midfielder was snapped up by the Eredivisie side in 2020 for around £8million after impressing at FC Nordsjaelland.

The departures of Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic have pushed an attacking midfielder up the priority list at Stamford Bridge.

Mauricio Pochettino is on the hunt for more creativity in the middle of the park and Kudus has been identified as someone who fits the mould.

The Ghana international’s finishing has also massively improved during his most recent season at Ajax, netting 18 goals in all competitions across 42 appearances.

Kudus was an integral part of Ajax’s Champions League run last term, scoring in four of his six appearances for the Dutch side, notably scoring against Liverpool at Anfield.

The midfielder has been linked with several Premier League sides and he nearly joined Everton in the final weeks of the summer 2022 window, as revealed by Football Insider.

Back in March, Football Insider revealed that Kudus had been interested in a move to Man United this summer and told friends of his desire to reunite with Erik ten Hag.
