Sources: Rangers close to signing Danilo as near-record deal offered

Rangers are closing in on a €6million deal for Feyenoord striker Danilo and are ready to shatter their wage structure to secure an agreement, sources have told Football Insider.

Talks between the clubs are progressing extremely well and the Gers are confident of getting a deal done with the Dutch club.

The 24-year-old is expected to finalise terms on a £40,000-per-week Ibrox deal, making him one of the highest-ever paid players in the club’s history.

On Friday (21 July), Football Insider revealed that the Gers tabled a new £5m bid for the striker after seeing their opening offered rejected last month.

Michael Beale is keen to add more firepower to his squad, particularly following the exits of Alfredo Morelos and Antonio Colak this summer, and has highlighted Danilo as a top target.

The forward has reportedly made it clear to Feyenoord that he would prefer to leave the club this summer and is keen for a move to Scotland.

The Brazilian has three years left on his contract with the Eredivisie club after joining from Ajax last summer.

Danilo made 48 appearances across all competitions last season and was in the starting lineup for less than half of those outings but still managed to find the back of the net 14 times.

The striker helped the Dutch club to the league title in the Netherlands ahead of rivals of PSV Eindhoven and Ajax and was also second in the club’s goalscoring charts.

The Sao Paulo-born striker has also represented Brazil at Under-23 level after impressing in the Eredivisie.
