'Absolutely shocking', 'Could have broken his leg' - Leeds fans gobsmacked at 'mind-blowing' referee blunder

Leeds fans are baffled by a refereeing blunder in their 1-1 draw to Rotherham on Friday (24 November).

Officials missed what seemed a stone-wall red card and penalty for the Whites when Daniel James was hauled down by Lee Peltier in the second half with his studs firmly up the Welshman’s shin.

The Whites were blunted in the Yorkshire derby at the AESSEAL New York Stadium despite taking a sixth-minute lead with a pin-point strike by Crysencio Summerville.

Hakeem Odoffin had a late first-half equaliser and despite a late offside goal and the lion’s share of shots and possession, Daniel Farke’s side had to share the spoils.

While Ipswich Town’s 2-0 defeat to West Brom did see Leeds gain ground on the automatic spaces, the Elland Road faithful are aggrieved that they had the chance to close the gap to just five points.

Fans have taken to social media in a fury and are shocked the incident saw no penalty.

This supporter fumed as the challenge could have been a leg-breaker for the 26-year-old.

This fan pointed aim at referee Oliver Langford for not spotting the horror tackle.

This fan suspected that the decision went against Leeds simply because they are Leeds.

One fan has urged that VAR be introduced to the Championship to help keep the referees in check.

One fan could not quite believe his eyes.

This supporter took aim at the standard of refereeing in the second division.

Another supporter also shared their anger with the officiating but suggested that his incident was not the only blunder on show in South Yorkshire.

This fan is baffled that there is no VAR in the Championship considering smaller leagues have it.
