Sources: Everton make move to sign Brian Brobbey

Everton are keen on Ajax striker Brian Brobbey and have made their interest known to the Dutch side, sources have told Football Insider.

The 21-year-old would be keen on a move to the Premier League and Everton are currently weighing up the option of pushing through a deal for the forward.

A new number nine is a key priority for Sean Dyche as he looks to bring in reinforcements to help Dominic Calvert-Lewin with the goal scoring duties.

Ellis Simms recently left the club to join Championship side Coventry while Neil Maupay is expected to leavein the coming weeks with major interest from Italy.

Calvert-Lewin’s continuous injury problems mean the club are looking to sign another forward in addition to incoming Arnaut Danguma.

The forward, who came so close to joining in January after undergoing an Everton medical before Tottenham ambushed the deal, has agreed the terms of a loan move.

He is set to sign this weekend, and is expected to be joined at the club by another attacking arrival.

The Merseyside club will hope to avoid another relegation scrap and are expected to bring in a number of new faces to help them move up the table.

Ajax could lose multiple players in this window with former Rangers defender Calvin Bassey also wanted by Brighton and Fulham.

Brobbey scored 14 goals in all competitions last season for Ajax, with 13 of those coming in Eredivisie matches. The powerful front man has been capped 17 times for Holland Under-21s and scored nine times.
