Sources: Major update on Everton triggering Jack Harrison clause after Leeds 'agreement'
Everton are not expected to trigger the release clause of on-loan winger Jack Harrison following their points deduction, sources have told Football Insider.
The Toffees transfer plans are up in the air as January approaches following their historic biggest-ever Premier League punishment for breaking financial fair play rules.
Sean Dyche’s side do not have a buy option in Harrison‘s loan agreement.
However, there is a release clause in his Leeds contract which can be activated during the length of his temporary spell at Goodison Park.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Everton are not currently looking to do so after their bombshell 10-point deduction.
The punishment leaves the Merseysiders 19th in the table despite their good early-season form.
Harrison has been central to that success and has started each of the Toffees’ last five Premier League games.
The 27-year-old has made eight total appearances in the 2023-24 campaign, notching one goal and three assists.
His contract at parent club Leeds, who are vying for promotion back to the Premier League this season, is set to expire in June 2028.
Harrison has made 113 Premier League appearances, notching 22 goals and 19 assists.
Everton have appealed their 10-point punishment but are now also open to legal claims from other English sides.
Football Insider revealed on Thursday (23 November) that Leeds, Burnley, Leicester City, Southampton and Nottingham Forest have begun legal action over a combined £200million claim.
Transfer activity will also be affected by the pending takeover of Everton by Miami-based 777 Partners.
A deal was struck in September but is still being ratified by the relevant authorities.
