Sources: Middlesbrough agree Emmanuel Latte Lath fee

Middlesbrough have agreed a fee with Atalanta for striker Emmanuel Latte Lath, sources have told Football Insider.

Boro are made it a priority to strengthen their attack before the close of the transfer window and have lined up a deal for Latte Lath.

The 24-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract at Atalanta, spent last season on loan Swiss Super League side FC St. Gallen, where he scored 16 goals and provided four assists.

After his impressive campaign in Switzerland last term, Latte Lath has featured regularly in pre-season for Atalanta and has netted four goals this summer, including one against Bournemouth and a hat-trick against Pro Vercelli.

He has just 12 months remaining on his contract with the Serie A side as Boro agree a fee for the striker.

Lath could come to replace Aston Villa forward Cameron Archer following the youngster’s successful loan spell at the club last season.

Any hopes of a reunion between Archer and Middlesborough appear dashed as Football Insider exclusively revealed on Friday (11 August) that Sheffield United have registered their interest in signing the England Under-21 forward.

The Midlands giants are willing to listen to offers for Archer, who is on the radar of multiple Premier League clubs.

Latte Lath has been on a host of short-term loans in Italy during his formative years.

The striker has managed 36 goals in 154 games across all competitions – but has played just three senior games for Atalanta.

He primarily plays as a centre-forward but can occupy both flanks with success – and has played on the right wing regularly during his development.

Middlesbrough, who have already sealed seven summer deals, face Coventry on Saturday (12 August) after losing their season-opener against Millwall.

In other news, Sunderland could accept Middlesbrough bid for star man.
