Sources: Bournemouth ready to sign Man City sensation Carlos Borges

Bournemouth are ready to join the chase for Man City star Carlos Borges, sources have told Football Insider.

The Cherries have sent scouts to watch the Portuguese Under-19 international at the Euros and Borges has impressed during the tournament, starting all three of their Group A games so far.

The 19-year-old is highly rated at City and made 33 appearances for the Under-21s side in the 2022-23 campaign.

Bournemouth are among a number of clubs eyeing up the teenager this summer, including newly relegated Southampton.

The Cherries are believed to be exploring a loan move or a permanent deal for the City winger as they look for reinforcements in attack.

Borges is a versatile attacker who can play on either wing and netted 29 goals last season.

He began his career with Sporting CP’s youth academy before joining the Cityzens in 2014 where he has worked his way through the age groups but is yet to make his first team debut.

The youngster was named Premier League 2 Player of the Season for 2022-23 after topping the goalscoring charts and helping City’s Elite Development Squad claim a historic third consecutive league title.

Borges’ haul of 29 goals included four separate hattricks throughout the season which helped him land the EDS’ Players’ Player of the Year.

Speaking to club media (23 May), the youngster said he was “honoured” to win the award in a league where the quality is “so high”.
