Kieran Maguire digs at Man City after £55m deal agreed

Man City have prioritised money over morals by agreeing to a £55million deal with crypto company OKX.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that City won’t be concerned about any ‘reputational damage’ that could be caused by their new partnership.

As per the Daily Mail, City’s new partnership with OKX is worth £55million across the three-year agreement – around £18million per season.

The crypto exchange has become a global partner of the treble-winning club and will appear on their kit sleeve as part of their agreement.

Premier League rivals Chelsea also signed a sleeve sponsorship deal with a crypto company last season worth £20million per year, but their agreement with WhaleFin collapsed after just seven months with the company suffering substantial financial losses.

Maguire believes that City are not concerned about the ‘highly volatile’ crypto industry as they are more concerned about the size of the cheque.

All football clubs seem to be taking the approach of accepting offers as long as it’s not illegal,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

This is the case with OKX and Man City, with the unregulated, highly volatile and easily manipulated product range that is cryptocurrency.

“If the cheque is big enough then football clubs will take it.

Man City won’t be too worried about reputational damage because all of the focus is very much on what happens on the pitch.

The moral and ethical issues connected to partners off the pitch is less of a concern to them.
