Revealed: Man United in serious contention to sign Declan Rice after new twist - sources

Man United are emerging as realistic contenders in the race to sign West Ham star Declan Rice this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Arsenal have been long-term frontrunners to secure the England star’s signature and remain in pole position to sign him.

But United are waiting in the wings in case the north Londoners will not pay the West Ham asking price.

It is believed the Irons are holding out for £100million for their star man. Arsenal value Rice between £80-85million with his contract expiring next year.

The player has let it be known he is keen to remain in London and would jump at the chance to join Arsenal.

But potential issues over the fee keeps the door open for United.

They have registered their interest in Rice and are keeping close tabs on his situation.

United are believed to be willing to come closer to the West Ham valuation, which adds an extra layer to Arsenal’s negotiations.

In what has been a stuttering domestic campaign for David Moyes’ team, Rice has continued to demonstrate he is one of the Premier League’s best players this season.

He has made 49 appearances across all competitions, including 37 league matches and 10 European games for the Irons.

Rice has scored five goals and registered four assists, and will look to improve his tally on Wednesday (7 June) in the Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina.

In other news, star tells his club he is joining Man United – and mega-money deal is already agreed.
