Revealed: Mason Mount tells Chelsea he wants to join Man United - sources

Man United are working on finalising the signing of Mason Mount by end of the week, sources have told Football Insider.

The Chelsea star has agreed personal terms with United and told the club he has spent his entire career at that he wants to leave this summer.

The two clubs have yet to agree a fee but negotiations between United and the Londoners are advancing.

Chelsea still want close to £70million to sell their academy product after initially asking for £80m.

On Friday (2 June), this site first revealed that Erik ten Hag’s side have agreed personal terms with the midfielder as they search to reach an agreement over the fee with Chelsea.

On Saturday (3 June), Football Insider revealed that Champions League football is a “big factor” in the England international’s decision to join United over Liverpool next season.

Liverpool were also interested in a deal for Mount but Man United have emerged as leaders in the race for his signature.

The 24-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge but has failed to come to an agreement with the club over an extension.

Mount’s struggles to agree an extension at his current club has stemmed from his desire to be on par with the top earners in the side, including his England teammate Reece James.

According to FBRef, Mount currently earns £80,000-a-week.

Now, Football Insider has learned that Mount will earn around £200,000-per-week at Old Trafford as they look to reach an agreement by the end of the week.
