Sources: Liverpool pre-season tour plan revealed - it's a major win for Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool will to return to Asia on a one-stop pre-season tour this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds are set to head to the Far East for a second successive year, with Singapore expected to be their destination of choice.

And in a major win for Jurgen Klopp, the travel demands on his squad are set to be limited after a second tour stop was decided against.

Liverpool also prepared for the current season by heading to Asia, playing fixtures in Malaysia and Singapore before returning for a European training camp.

But, as exclusively revealed by Football Insider earlier this month, Klopp’s belief that related travel and commercial commitments cut into valuable training time forced a rethink ahead of this summer.

As such, the Reds are now set to start their pre-season training in Europe before heading out to Asia in the third week of preparations.

A first visit to the United States since 2019, when Liverpool played fixtures in Notre Dame, Boston and New York, had been under consideration.

And it is thought that Las Vegas featured in internal discussions over potential destinations for such a trip.

However, any plans for a return to the US will now be put on hold until 2024 at the earliest.

Klopp has previously spoken in glowing terms about the club’s passionate support in Asia, saying: “The most important thing is to come here and let the people see us, not only on television but live as well.

“We have today here 12,000 people for the open training session… that’s absolutely impressive! It’s really great.

“The only problem we have, sometimes the people probably think he could sign their shirt and that’s true, I could, the problem are the 500 people around and I don’t have time for 500 people.”
