Brendan Rodgers won't apologise to Celtic fans after confirmed news - pundit

Brendan Rodgers won’t apologise to Celtic fans.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton insisted Rodgers’ decision to leave the Hoops the first time round was the right call at the time.

On Monday, the Celts confirmed that the 50-year-old has returned as manager following the departure of Ange Postecoglou who took up the top job at Tottenham.

Rodgers has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Scottish champions and is set to meet with the media this week.

But not all fans are happy about the Northern Irishman’s return given the way he abruptly left the side back in 2019 for the job at Leicester City, a job that he was eventually sacked from.

When asked if Rodgers will issue an apology to fans for the events that unfolded following his first stint, Hutton told Football Insider:I am not sure if there will be an actual apology.

He might tell everyone his reasons behind it. How can you look back on it and say it was a bad decision?

I know eventually it ended in him getting sacked but that happens to every manager at one stage or another.

I think he will get asked some questions straight to the point about when he left. I think if he is open and honest, that is all you can ask for. If the fans like what he says then of course they will welcome him back no problem.
