Sources: Celtic close in on manager deal as new Rodgers talks revealed

Celtic are set for another meeting with Brendan Rodgers, sources have told Football Insider.

The Hoops are closing in on a deal for Rodgers that would see him complete a sensational return to Parkhead as the club’s new manager.

The Norther Irishman has been the number one target to the Celts throughout the process and Football Insider has learned that his potential appointment is close.

On Monday (12 June), Football Insider revealed that the Hoops had made contact with the 50-year-old about succeeding Ange Postecoglou.

The Scottish Champions are in the hunt for a new manager after confirming the departure of Postecoglou following his appointment as Antonio Conte’s successor at Tottenham.

The Australian joined Rodgers in the Celtic history books by securing a domestic treble.

Postecoglou led the Hoops to back to back league titles in his first two years with the club and leaves them with group stage Champions League football for the upcoming campaign.

Rodgers also enjoyed an incredibly successful domestic record during his time at Parkhead before departing the club half way through the 2018-19 season for the job at Leicester City.

The Foxes boss was relieved of his duties at the King Power Stadium earlier this season after a disappointing run and has been out of work since.

Leicester were taken over by Dean Smith as interim boss in an attempt to save their Premier League status but they were ultimately demoted to the Championship.

In other news, Celtic block Tottenham deal as Ange Postecoglou clause emerges.
