Sources: Graham Potter rejects Leicester City approach

Graham Potter has rejected an approach from Leicester City, sources have told Football Insider.

The 48-year-old has been out of work since he was dismissed from his post at Chelsea just hours after Brendan Rodgers was sacked by Leicester.

Potter is keen to return to top-level management after taking a short break at the end of the 2022-23 campaign following his Stamford Bridge exit.

Leicester made him their first choice to replace interim boss Dean Smith, whose future is up in the air following the club’s relegation.

But Potter has made it clear that he does not want to manage in the Championship next season.

The former Chelsea, Brighton and Swansea City boss believes he has already proved himself in the English top tier and is deserving of a job at an elite club.

Leicester are searching for a new manager and want to make a quick appointment given the amount of work that needs to be done this summer.

Seven players have already departed and Leicester know they have a lot of player trading to do this summer, with James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and a number of others expected to move on if suitable offers are received.

Potter was sacked by Chelsea after just under seven months in charge of the London club.

During his 31 matches at the helm, the Blues won 17, drew nine and lost 12.

Potter oversaw losses in the League Cup, FA Cup and Champions League as well as in the Premier League leaving Chelsea without the hope of any European football next season.
