Portsmouth, Bolton Wanderers and Wycombe Wanderers chase AFC Wimbledon star Ethan Chislett - sources

Portsmouth, Bolton Wanderers and Wycombe Wanderers are chasing AFC Wimbledon midfielder Ethan Chislett, sources have told Football Insider.

Chislett, 24, is out of contract later this month and has been offered a new deal by the League Two club.

League One trio Bolton, Portsmouth and Wycombe are keen to lure the attacking midfielder away from Wimbledon on a free transfer.

Chislett scored 11 goals in 51 appearances as the Dons finished 21st in League Two.

The 24-year-old has been an important member of Johnnie Jackson’s side throughout the 2022-23 campaign.

As quoted by London News earlier this season (3 December), the Wimbledon boss praised Chislett’s contribution to the side and insisted the attacking midfielder is “integral” to his team during the season.

Jackson added that the club know how important he is to their success, regardless of whether “he gets plaudits from outside or not”.

The midfielder joined Wimbledon from Aldershot back in 2020 and since then he has made 123 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing eight assists.

Portsmouth, Wycombe and Bolton all finished inside the top ten in League One in the 2022-23 campaign.

Bolton finished the highest out of the three sides but lost out on their chance to secure a spot in the Championship after being beaten by Barnsley in their play-off semi-final earlier this month.

The three clubs are now set to battle it out for Chislett’s signature and attempt to lure him away from Plough Lane.
