Revealed: Liverpool star in regular contact with Erling Haaland ahead of Man City showdown

Dominik Szoboszlai and Erling Haaland have been in regular contact ahead of Man City’s showdown against Liverpool on Saturday (25 November), sources have told Football Insider.

The pair have a close bond and are good friends after playing together for Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg.

Szoboszlai and Haaland, both 23, have a lot in common and their friendship has continued during their spells in Germany and into their mega-money moves to the Premier League across the last two summers.

The pair will meet on the pitch once again on Saturday with Liverpool travelling to the Etihad Stadium with the chance to knock Man City off the top of the Premier League.

Szoboszlai has impressed since joining the Merseysiders from RB Leipzig for a reported £60million in the summer window.

He has made 17 appearances across all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side, notching two goals and two assists.

The Hungary captain signed a contract running until June 2028.

Meanwhile, Haaland is continuing his stellar goalscoring form for Man City after smashing Premier League records in his first campaign in England.

He managed 52 goals and nine assists in 53 games last term as City won a historic treble.

The Norway international, who is under contract until June 2027, has already managed 17 goals and four assists in 18 games across all competitions this term.

Haaland has been an injury doubt in the build-up to the Liverpool clash with an ankle problem, but has returned to training and is expected to start on Saturday.

The Reds trail City by two points ahead of kick-off at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s side won two of the three clashes between the two sides last season, with Liverpool recording a 1-0 victory in October 2022.
