Sources: Luton Town in talks to sign Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga
Luton Town are in talks to sign Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga before the 11pm deadline, sources have told Football Insider.
The Hatters are keen to add the 23-year-old to their ranks on a loan basis.
Lokonga is well down the pecking order at Arsenal and is yet to feature in any of their matchday squads this season.
Several clubs in England and Europe have been credited with an interest in the midfielder, but Luton are now pushing to seal a deal before the window slams shut on Friday night (1 September).
The Belgium international spent the second half of the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Crystal Palace.
He made just nine appearances for the Eagles in the Premier League, starting in six of those outings.
Lokonga also played 15 times for Arsenal in the first half of last term but played most of his minutes in the Europa League group stage – starting all six of those fixtures.
The 23-year-old has played 39 times for the Gunners in total since signing in July 2021.
His contract at the Emirates Stadium runs until June 2026.
The youngster made the move to England after impressing for Belgian side Anderlecht, where Lokonga came through the ranks.
He made 73 appearances in total for the European giants, notching three goals and seven assists.
Luton Town, who were promoted from the Championship via the playoffs last term, have made 11 signings so far this summer.
The Hatters have lost both of their Premier League fixtures this term ahead of Friday night’s (1 September) clash with West Ham.
