Mason Mount expected to jump at the chance to join Liverpool after talks update - pundit

Paul Robinson has claimed Liverpool “would be an attractive proposition” for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount in the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and England number one suggested a move could materialise even if Jurgen Klopp’s side fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Mount has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

According to the Telegraph‘s Mike McGrath (11 February), there has been no breakthrough in talks between Chelsea and the player.

Liverpool are widely reported to be interested in signing the England international.

The Reds are currently 10th in the Premier League table, one place behind Chelsea.

When asked by Football Insider if Mount would likely be tempted by a move to Anfield if there was no Champions League football on offer, Robinson said: “I still think it would be an attractive option for Mount.

“Liverpool are an attractive proposition for player even when they are not in the Champions League. It was not so long ago that they were in the Champions League final.

“I think Mount would see it as a great opportunity despite the recent struggles.

“Liverpool have to invest. I know that the owners are trying to sell the club but they have to invest at the same time. The must protect the club and protect their asset. You have to speculate to accumulate. Champions League football is imperative.”

In other news, a source has revealed Liverpool are scouting the ‘next Jude Bellingham’ as pre-summer deal lined up.
