Ex-Burnley star reveals Sean Dyche 'rules' after Everton latest - 'it will be policed'

Paul Robinson has claimed new Everton manager Sean Dyche is “a big believer in self-discipline” within his squad.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England number one, who played under Dyche at Burnley, revealed “a lot of rules” will have be introduced at Goodison Park.

The Toffees beat Arsenal 1-0 in Sean Dyche’s first game in charge.

In the days leading up to the game, Everton players were put through the bleep test in training.

As quoted by the Daily Mail (4 February), Dyche confirmed that his players had undergone such a fitness test.

When asked by Football Insider for his insight on Dyche’s training methods, Robinson said: “Sean Dyche is all about honesty.

“He wants players to practice how they play. The shin pads in training is nothing new. That is how he has always managed. That is how we trained at Burnley. We did it everyday.

“He also did not have hoods, leggings or gloves on the training pitch. That is just how he operates.

“Discipline is central. He is a big believer in self-discipline. There will be a lot of rules and regulations but it will be policed by the players.

“His man management skills are excellent. Clearly he has already had an impact on the group though. They were very good against Arsenal and I thought the were fully deserving of the three points. I think he will do well there.”

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed a new Everton investor could offer ‘straight cash up front’ as £3.2bn deal done.
