'Simply undroppable' - Liverpool fans blown away by what they've seen from Darwin Nunez

Liverpool fans are demanding that Darwin Nunez is named in the starting XI for their trip to Luton Town on Sunday afternoon.

The Uruguayan striker scored his seventh goal of the season on Wednesday evening in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup round of 16 – and supporters have been blown away by what they’ve seen from him this season.

Cody Gakpo opened the scoring for Jurgen Klopp’s side, Justin Kluivert equalised for the hosts after the break and Nunez came off the bench to settle the tie with a curling effort from outside the box in the 70th minute.

The Reds will now host West Ham in the quarter-finals of the League Cup in December, but first they face a trip to Luton Town in the Premier League this weekend.

Nunez has only started seven matches so far this season with Klopp choosing to rotate his front line regularly, but Luis Diaz’ unfortunate absence due to his father’s kidnapping has left the Liverpool boss with one fewer option.

With Diaz expected to miss Liverpool’s trip to Kenilworth Road this weekend and Mohamed Salah a guaranteed starter, Klopp is left with Cody Gakpo, Nunez and Diogo Jota as his main options in attack.

Liverpool fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, want to see Nunez given another chance in the starting lineup after his superb display against Bournemouth.

These fans expect Gakpo to miss out on a starting spot, with Nunez and Jota partnering Salah in a front three.

This supporter believes Nunez is bound to start on Sunday after being named on the bench against Bournemouth.

Never mind the trip to Luton, many Liverpool fans believe Nunez needs to start every game.

One fan believes Nunez is the long-term replacement for Salah at Anfield so needs to play every week that he is ‘physically capable’.
