Sources: West Ham ready to accept Pablo Fornals offer
There is a real potential for Pablo Fornals to leave West Ham in the upcoming January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The 27-year-old is out of contract at the London Stadium at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
January is therefore West Ham’s last chance to bring in a transfer fee for Fornals, who is now a fringe player in David Moyes’ squad.
It is believed the Irons will be read to accept an offer for the Spain international in the new year as they feel he does not have a future at the club.
The former Villarreal star has made 14 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
He is yet to score or assist this term and has started just one Premier League game in the 2023-24 season – the opening day draw with Bournemouth.
Fornals made 50 appearances across all competitions last season, notching seven goals and two assists as West Ham lifted the Europa Conference League.
But he has been one of the casualties of the arrivals of Mohammed Kudus, James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez – and has seen his involvement limited in the wake of those signings.
The midfielder has proved a versatile option for West Ham since he arrived in 2019, starring in various midfield roles and on both flanks for Moyes’ side.
Fornals, who joined in a reported £24million deal four years ago, has racked up 194 total games for the club – scoring 23 goals and contributing 19 assists.
West Ham, who have secured safe passage to the Europa League knockout stages, sit ninth in the Premier League following their 1-1 home draw against Crystal Palace on Sunday (3 December).
The Irons are next in action against Tottenham on Thursday (7 December).
