'Big fine', 'Clowns' - Rangers fans react to expected punishment after pyro show at Dundee

Rangers fans are expecting their club to be punished for causing delays to their 5-0 win over Dundee in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday evening.

Philippe Clement’s side closed the gap to Celtic at the top of the table to just five points after a dominant performance at Dens Park.

Ryan Jack opened the scoring early on, while second-half goals from Danilo, Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers and James Tavernier secured the victory.

But while the result suggests the match was a straightforward affair, it was anything but after both sets of players were taken off the pitch just two minutes after kick-off.

Flares set off by the traveling Rangers fans had triggered the stadium’s fire alarm, causing a 20-minute delay before play was resumed.

Kick-off had already been delayed by 45 minutes due to the Rangers team bus arriving late to the stadium.

After the full-time whistle, Clement urged Rangers fans to “keep the fire away” in future matches.

The Gers boss also said he hopes the club “does not face sanctions” because of the fans.

However, Rangers supporters on X, formerly known as Twitter, are anticipating a punishment heading their way.

Many fans believe the club could be handed a significant fine because of the pyro show.

Others directed their frustration towards the Union Bears – a particular group of Rangers supporters.

The calls to have fans banned for the pyro show didn’t stop there either, with this supporter calling them ‘clowns’.
