Pundit amazed as Newcastle United agree 'crazy' Adidas deal - 'it will be huge'

Newcastle United have hit the jackpot with their “incredible” new Adidas deal.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic and Scotland striker Frank McAvennie expressed his delight for the Magpies for their unexpectedly quick progression.

The club confirmed earlier this season that they will be switching kit manufacturers from Castore to Adidas at the start of the next campaign, but they will reportedly also join the Elite Team range meaning they will wear non-template kits.

Newcastle will join juggernaut clubs Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Juventus, Arsenal, Flamengo, and Manchester United in this deal with the German apparel company.

McAvennie claimed the agreement “makes sense” as the Magpies will soon be challenging for trophies.

“Newcastle are a big, big club, “ he told Football Insider.

“They signed the deal [with Adidas] which will be huge. Fans wouldn’t have expected that, it’s crazy.

“They’re a couple of years ahead of where I thought they were going to be. I knew all this would come, but not so quickly.

“It’ll be big money they’ll get for that, it’s incredible.

“I’m delighted for the Geordies. We’re going to be talking in the next few years about them challenging for the league, so this deal makes sense.”
