'How do you disallow that?', 'RIP football' - Fans aghast at Man United VAR controversy in 3-3 v Galatasaray

Fans were left baffled over a “ridiculous” VAR call that went narrowly in Man United’s favour in their 3-3 Champions League clash against Galatasaray on Wednesday night (29 November).

The Red Devil’s hopes of progressing to the knockout stage were slashed after the Turkish giants clawed their way back from 3-1 down to snatch a point in Istanbul.

Erik ten Hag’s side now languish at the bottom of Group A and victory in their final group stage game against Bayern Munich may not be enough to secure qualification.

However, Galatasaray could have made it 2-2 late in the first half if Mauro Icardi’s strike was not narrowly ruled out by the automatic offside technology.

Fans have taken to social media in shock over the decision, and some think it coudl spell the very end of football itself.

One fan was confused about the boundaries of the offside as the graphic included a portion of Icardi’s arm.

This fan simply sent his condolences to the whole sport after the controversial decision.

This supporter was adamant that the goal should have stood and predicted football to be “finished” within the next two decades if decisions like this continue to be made.

This fan blasted VAR for taking the excitement from the game.

This fan questioned why the line wasn’t drawn from Harry Maguire’s hand.

One fan was not surprised to see a contentious decision go in United’s favour.

However, this Man United fan admitted that the call was poor and even claimed that their opponents were “robbed”.

This fan was mystified as to why the goal did not stand.
