Kieran Maguire makes incredible Tottenham claim - he says Man City are trailing in their wake

Tottenham are the best-run team in the Premier League despite Man City announcing record-breaking revenue for the 2022/23 season.

That is the incredible opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the latest figures from City’s financial accounts.

City released their annual report for the 2022/23 season on Wednesday (15 November), revealing profits of £80.4million and overall revenue of £712.8million – the highest ever recorded by a Premier League side.

It eclipsed the previous record set by Man United’s financial accounts last month, when the Red Devils revealed revenue of £648.4million.

City’s financial success off the pitch was helped by the club’s historic treble-winning campaign last season, with the Manchester giants earning additional prize money in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

Tottenham are yet to publish their 2022/23 accounts, but the London outfit generated revenue of £444million in 2021/22.

Maguire believes the behind-the-scenes setup at Spurs means they are still the best-run team in the top flight ahead of City.

“No, I wouldn’t say that Manchester City are the best-run club in the Premier League,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

Financially, I still think that Spurs are ahead.

I think this shows that the Manchester City brand has grown and they have many critics when it comes to that.

They now have their own galacticos in the likes of Haaland and Grealish, who are very attractive to sponsors and commercial partners.

Everybody wants to be partnered and have their product next to the Champions League.

They can offer that to sponsors, so they would have picked up a lot in bonuses from their amazing achievements on the pitch last season.

So that all brings money.

You get extra money from Uefa, you get extra money from the Premier League, you get extra money from sponsors and you have got more home matches because of their progress in all competitions.
