West Ham expert reacts to source's Dominic Solanke reveal - 'Fans will adore him'
West Ham fans would “adore” Dominic Solanke if he moved to the London Stadium.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hammers and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie believes the Bournemouth striker would fit well into a David Moyes side.
As revealed by Football Insider (25 November), the Cherries could secure up to £40million for the 26-year-old amid interest from the Hammers.
The Englishman has already matched his record goal haul in the Premier League with six in 13 appearances including a brace in Bournemouth’s 2-0 win over Newcastle.
Football Insider also revealed last month (28 November) that the Hammers are keen on a new striker and a left-back this January.
McAvennie claimed his eight-figure value is worthwhile but warned that a move for Solanke could depend on who is in the West Ham dugout during the summer.
“Solanke is a decent player, I really like him, what a player he’s become,” he told Football Insider.
“He could do it for West Ham. I’d love him there and the fans will adore him because he’s a really decent player.
“£40million for him is a good price, but it depends on who the manager is in the summer.
“David can’t buy a striker. I wish they’d tell the fans what’s happening and if David’s staying or leaving.
“He deserves respect if he’s going to be there, but Solanke would certainly fit into David’s plans that’s for sure.”
