Sources: Liverpool defender set to join new club as late Chambers move gets green light
Liverpool have given the green light to defender Luke Chambers going out on loan before the window shuts this week, sources have told Football Insider.
Swansea City are keen to bring in a new left-back and have set their sights on the 19-year-old Anfield academy product.
The Championship club have registered their interest in signing Chambers on what would be a temporary deal that runs until the end of the season.
Chambers spent the second half of last season on loan in Scotland at Kilmarnock and Liverpool are ready to loan him out again so that he can continue his development.
The young defender is highly regarded by his parent club and signed his first professional contract in 2021 before penning new and improved contracts in both July 2022 and May 2023.
Chambers has an association with the club going back 13 years after joining the Liverpool academy at the age of six.
Able to play at full-back as well as at centre-back, Chambers was also the regular Under-18s penalty taker and scored nine goals in 2021-22.
An England Under-19 international, Chambers travelled on the pre-season tour to Thailand and Singapore with Jurgen Klopp’s senior team in the summer of 2022, starting against Manchester United and coming on as a substitute in the clash with Crystal Palace.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Scottish Premiership club Kilmarnock, making 16 appearances for them in total.
