Sources: Charlton Athletic, Bolton Wanderers and Reading make moves to sign Cardiff star Rubin Colwill

Cardiff City attacking midfielder Rubin Colwill is a target for multiple clubs on loan or in a permanent deal before the close of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Colwill, 21, is in the final year of his contract at Cardiff and suitors are ready to pounce if his club fail to secure him on a new deal.

League One trio Charlton, Bolton and Reading have registered their interest in taking the Wales international on loan with the player surprisingly only being named in the squad for one of Cardiff’s opening three Championship games.

Colwill burst onto the scene with Cardiff in 2021 and broke into the Wales squad and was named in the squad for the delayed Euro 2020 tournament as well as the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The midfielder made 22 appearances across all competitions for Cardiff last term playing a total of just under 700 minutes and notching one assist.

The playmaker had a very positive pre-season with the Welsh club ahead of the current campaign after struggling last term with injuries.

Speaking on the problems he had last year, Colwill told WalesOnline (21 July) that it was “tough” but it has pushed him to try and prove himself every day in training when he has the chance

The 21-year-old was in the starting lineup for Cardiff’s league cup win over Colchester United and scored as they secured victory with a 5-2 score on penalties.

In other news, a Cardiff City star has opened talks to join Belgian club.
