Pundit shares what 'different animal' Philippe Clement 'will not let' Rangers stars do before Livingston showdown

Philippe Clement will not let his Rangers stars “come off the gas” against Livingston despite their hard-fought European victory.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Scotland defender Alan Hutton expects the Gers to get their fifth-consecutive league win at Almondvale despite the difficulty of playing after a midweek European clash.

Clement guided Rangers to a crucial 2-1 win in the Europa League against Sparta Prague at Ibrox which left them three points clear to qualify for the knock-out stages.

Meanwhile, Livingston sit second from bottom of the league table after four successive defeats and were thumped 4-0 by Michael Beale’s Rangers earlier this season in the Scottish Cup quarter-final.

Hutton has told the Gers what their “problem” could be in the tie and predicted a “tough game”.

“They’re always expected to win,” he told Football Insider.

“It always boils down to if they don’t reach their top level and don’t match the opposition’s physicality, then it’s going to be a problem.

“It’s never an easy game against Livingston, they’ll make it difficult there’s no doubt about that.

“Coming off the back of a European game, I can only think of when I used to play, it was always difficult to come from a massive high and needing to come again on Sunday.

“It’s about who are the leaders in that dressing room. Who can pick the guys up to go again?

“But they’ve got that fighting spirit. The manager will not let them come off the gas. He looks a different animal to who’s come previously.

“I expect a tough game, but Rangers will do well.”
