Sources: Newcastle and Wolves in race to sign Le Havre sensation Sangante - £20m will seal deal

Newcastle United, Wolves and Fulham have joined elite Premier League sides in the race for Le Havre defender sensation Arouna Sangante, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (21 November) that Man United, Man City and Chelsea have set their sights on signing the 21-year-old – who is one of the hottest properties in French football.

Newcastle, Fulham and Wolves have also sent scouts to cast an eye over Sangante ahead of a potential move to England in 2024.

It is believed European giants AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund are also keen to sign him after his commanding performances in Ligue 1.

Le Havre are aware of the growing interest in Sangante and club owner Vincent Volpe has given an exclusive mandate to FIFA agent Willie McKay to sell the player in the January transfer window.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Senegal-born defender is valued at around £20million by the Normandy club.

Sangante has made ten top-flight appearances this term, helping his side keep five clean sheets – including in draws against Monaco, Lens and Lyon.

He is the captain at Le Havre after breaking through as a teenager in the 2021-22 campaign.

The centre-back is under contract until June 2026 after penning his last contract extension in July, weeks after helping the club back to Ligue 1.

Sangante, 21, has already racked up 81 appearances in senior football despite his tender age.

Newcastle are in dire need of centre-back reinforcements following an injury crisis which has ravaged their first team in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Wolves are in the process of rebuilding their side after a summer fire sale which saw the likes of Ruben Neves, Matheus Nunes and Nathan Collins all depart.

Fulham are likely to be one of the busiest Premier League clubs in January and Football Insider has previously revealed (12 November) that centre-back is a priority for manager Marco Silva heading into the new year.
