Man United fans flocked to social media to vent their frustration around Marcus Rashford following their 1-0 loss to Newcastle United on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils slipped down to seventh in the Premier League table after Anthony Gordon’s goal secured all three points for the hosts.
Newcastle leapfrogged United in the table after a dominant performance at St James’ Park, with Eddie Howe’s side boasting more possession and shots than United over the 90 minutes.
Rashford returned to the starting lineup for United after missing the 3-3 draw against Galatasaray midweek, but the England international only lasted an hour before being hooked for Antony.
The 26-year-old has scored just twice for United this season in 18 appearances, and his preferred spot on the left wing has been taken by 19-year-old Alejandro Garnacho.
When asked about Rashford’s performances, Ten Hag said he will speak privately to his player and backed him to return to form.
However, United fans on social media were less forgiving and were angered by Rashford’s lack of effort and poor body language during the loss.
Despite being on the pitch for 60 minutes of the match, this fan believes Rashford was ‘invisible’.
Rashford’s workrate was also compared to Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon, who ended up scoring the winner for the Magpies.
