'He's clearly drunk on TV' - Fans in hysterics at chairman's TV interview after Leeds draw against Rotherham

Fans were in hysterics after Rotherham chairman Tony Stewart’s “nightmare” interview after their 1-1 draw against Leeds United on Friday night (24 November).

The relegation-battling Millers secured a surprise point against Daniel Farke’s in-form promotion chasers at the AESSEAL New York Stadium courtesy of a Hakeem Odoffin equaliser late in the first half.

However, attention quickly turned to Stewart’s striking post-match interview where he discussed Rotherham’s search for a new manager.

Interim boss Wayne Carlisle was in the dugout after Matt Taylor was sacked early in the international break, but Stewart admitted to being away and not having time to “put the effort” into hiring a replacement just yet.

Fans have seen the funny side and have taken to social media to poke fun at the “absolute comedy” that was on show.

This fan is convinced Stewart is in fact former Newcastle boss Steve Bruce due to the pair’s striking resemblance.

One fan slammed Stewart as an “embarrassment” and was certain that he’d had one or two drinks before his Sky interview.

Some supporters spotted that Bennet’s suit looked remarkably like Liverpool’s infamous FA Cup final outfits.

This fan speculated that Stewart had some non-football-related commitments after the Millers’ draw.

This fan joked that the chairman wouldn’t look out of place waiting tables.

This fan claimed Stewart looks like someone you’d find in the deep south of the United States rather than South Yorkshire.

One fan admitted that Stewart has done a good job at the club but was far from impressed with the interview.
