Sources: Arsenal two-man signing plan revealed as they plot powerhouse raid

Arsenal have identified Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic as potential striker targets, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is keen to reinvent his attacking options in the near future.

The Spaniard is keen to sign a forward powerhouse to give his Arsenal side a new dimension and is a big fan of both Toney and Vlahovic.

Both players would provide a more physical presence and a clear contrast to current forwards Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.

Arsenal previously tried to sign Vlahovic in January 2022 but he chose to join Juventus in a reported £62.8million deal.

The 23-year-old Serbia international, who is under contract until June 2026, has scored four goals and contributed one assist in 10 Serie A games this term.

He has managed 27 goals and seven assists in 73 games for the Turin giants since arriving.

Meanwhile, Toney is yet to play in the 2023-24 campaign after being banned for betting rule breaches late last season.

He will be available for selection again on 16 January and returned to training with his Brentford teammates in September.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month (7 November) that Arsenal are likely to go head-to-head with Tottenham, Man United and Chelsea for Toney’s signature.

He managed 21 goals and five assists in 35 games across all competitions last season – including a best-ever return of 20 strikes in the Premier League.

Arsenal’s top scorers this season are Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard, who have notched six goals each across all competitions.

Nketiah and Jesus have managed just five and four goals respectively.
