'Incompetency at its finest', 'Dishonest Webb and his puppets' - Arsenal fans fume after 'clown show' VAR footage revealed

Arsenal fans are far from happy after the PGMOL released the VAR footage of Newcastle United’s contentious winning goal.

The Magpies secured a huge 1-0 win at St James’ Park earlier this month (4 November), but Anthony Gordon’s 64th-minute strike was riddled with controversy.

The ball looked to have gone out of play for a goal kick from certain angles before the opener and Joelinton’s seeming push on Gabriel Magalhaes in the box has led many fans to feel the goal should have been disallowed.

Arsenal released an official statement backing Mikel Arteta after his furious post-match comments on the decision which he deemed a “disgrace“.

PGMOL chief Howard Webb faced questions on Sky Sports and explained why the goal stood, but his reasoning was not good enough for Gunners fans.

One supporter singled out the officials’ conversation and claimed it highlighted their “incompetency”.

One fan believes Andy Madley, the VAR official who claimed the ball remained in play, is “corrupt” and suggested he take a trip to the opticians.

One supporter was baffled at how the referees got their jobs at all.

This fan mocked the officials for not seeing the apparently obvious fouls.

One supporter targeted Webb directly and claimed his “damning” explanations just revealed their “poor judgement”.

One fan thought the process was better suited to a circus rather than the Premier League.

One fan insisted that there must be a better way to reach decisions after the “chaos”.

This Gunner slammed the serially “dishonest” Webb.
