Sources: 'Huge' update on Liverpool sensationally signing Kylian Mbappe

Liverpool are likely to be in the mix for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe if he becomes available next summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds will be just one of several Premier League clubs ready to sound out a move for the 24-year-old with recent reports from Spain suggesting Real Madrid have cooled their interest in the World Cup winner.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (10 November) that Man United, Man City and Chelsea are likely to be the only English sides capable of funding a deal for Mbappe.

Liverpool are long-term admirers and are likely to monitor his situation between now and the end of his contract in June 2024.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider it is “doubtful” that the Merseysiders could afford what would be a sensational deal.

Sources say Mbappe will command “huge wages” and an astronomical financial package if he leaves PSG for free next year.

He currently earns a reported £1.2million-a-week wage at Parc des Princes and has the option to extend that deal a further 12 months.

The France international has managed 12 goals and one assist across 14 total appearances in the 2023-24 campaign.

Mbappe revealed last year (2022) that he spoke to Liverpool about a potential move – before choosing to pledge his future to PSG.

The forward has notched 224 goals and 99 assists in 274 games since joining the Ligue 1 champions for a reported £166million in 2017.
