Sources: Bournemouth consider move for Bodo/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen

Bournemouth are considering a move for Bodo/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen as they seek a replacement for Scott Parker, sources have told Football Insider.

Parker was sacked earlier on Tuesday (30 August) after just four games into the Premier League season and off the back of their humiliating 9-0 defeat to Liverpool last weekend.

Knutsen has done an outstanding job with Norwegian minnows Bodo/Glimt who have won back-to-back league titles and reached the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League last season.

Bodo just missed out on qualifying for the Champions League this season and have been drawn alongside Arsenal in the Europa League group stages.

The Norwegian’s work at Bodo has not gone unnoticed with the likes of Norwich City, Burnley and Blackburn Rovers being linked with moves for his services and now Bournemouth could make a move for the 53-year-old.

His side beat Jose Mourinho’s Roma 6-1 in the group stages of last season’s Europa Conference League before being knocked out by the Italian club in the quarter-finals.

As well as their humiliating defeat at Anfield, Parker appeared to question the club’s transfer strategy after the game.

As quoted by BBC Sport, he admitted his squad “needed help” and the club needed to decide what they wanted to do this season.

In a statement on Tuesday (30 August), co-owner Maxim Dean insisted it was “unconditional” that the manager and club were “aligned”.

Gary O’Neil will now take temporary charge of the Cherries alongside a coaching staff of Shaun Cooper and Tommy Elphick.

The south-coast outfit are next in action on Wednesday (31 August) when they host Wolves.

In other news, Bournemouth are ready to hijack a Leeds United striker deal.
