Sources: Siriki Dembele set to be axed from Bournemouth squad as exit nears

Siriki Dembele is expected to be omitted from the Bournemouth squad travelling to Norwich City tonight, sources have told Football Insider.

It comes as the 25-year-old edges closer to a move to Besiktas.

The Cherries fear an injury to Dembele would scupper the prospective deal.

Therefore, he will not be risked in the League Cup clash at Carrow Road.

The winger has been deemed surplus to requirements by Cherries manager Scott Parker.

Dembele joined the newly-promoted side from Peterborough United in January for an undisclosed fee.

He put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal at the Vitality Stadium.

The Ivorian attacker has failed to establish himself on the south coast with likes of Jamal Lowe, Dominic Solanke, Jaidon Anthony, Kieffer Moore, Junior Stanislas and Ryan Christie preferred.

Across all competitions, Dembele has made 13 appearances for Bournemouth.

He has contributed two goals and one assist in those outings.

The winger was an unused substitute against Arsenal on Saturday.

Dembele enjoyed four successful years at Peterborough and helped them gain promotion to the Championship in the 2020-21 campaign.

His 147 appearances for the club yielded 30 goals and 30 assists.

Bournemouth boss Scott Parker is keen to bolster his squad prior to the transfer window closing next Thursday.

The Cherries have added Marcus Tavernier, Marcos Senesi, Neto, Joe Rothwell and Ryan Fredericks to their ranks so for this summer.

They are 15th in the Premier League table after three games.

In other news, a source has revealed Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers are in a race to sign a South American sensation.
